Sadly, the US prohibits travel to Cuba for vacations, otherwise I'd gladly put some money into their economy.

Probably not. Mediterranean Spain is nice.
There's also the Canary Islands, which were uninhabited when the Spanish colonized them in the 1400s. Bit warmer than mediterranean spain.
I guess Madeira would be along the same lines too?
Right. But A bit further north and not really known for its beaches.
