the title could be funnier but it popped into my head earlier today when someone sent me an recent article about this study where they reversed a patient's T1 diabetes by taking her fat cells, chemically inducing them into stem cells, and then generating islet cells from those stem cells which were then implanted back into the patient - restoring their body's insulin production (at the cost of having to take immunosuppresants because, you know, the diabetes causing their immune system to attack & destroy their islet cells but still - this specific patient was already on immunosuppresants due to kidney transplants so I'm sure they're happy!!)
