i don't think i'm wrong. why else is it a completely separate product from the existing card game, the online version of which literally does not contain monetization?

it's funny, i open the packs, but since i started playing the full pokemon tcg not long before it came out, i find the battling super dissatisfying. probably for the best. as a game, it's got a lot of the same problems as the earliest days of the tcg, i.e. making too many decks rely on coin flips to deal damage. it's not consistent and feels bad to lose from. it's not nearly so good an app, but i would recommend the non-monetized pokemon tcg live if you like ripping packs and doing casual battles. they recently revamped it to give you more packs for playing games and give you a functioning (if not on-meta) version of most of the meta decks right out of the gate. you also get about the same progression of packs and resources from winning and losing so all around it's just less of a skinner box.

i get it, i got a god pack on this stupid thing lol

I kinda like how dumb it is lmao Like, I don't engage with the game as a confrontation of skill AT ALL. I hated how Heartstone had a lot of cool mechanics but they slapped stupid RNG making things unfair at certain points. Here it's just all RNG, it's totally idiotic and I vibe with that
