I was in a silly paper store yesterday and by the register there was these disposable battery packs for charging iphones. Single use. Absolutely awful.

I mentioned to my SO "look how awful this is, what a waste". The woman working at the store thought i was talking to her and she tried so hard to defend these disposable batteries.

Images of me bringing up Bolivian coups, slave labor lithium mines, the disgusting waste of a single use chemical battery, etc ran through my head. In slow motion I thought to my self "this woman is too happy, too cheery, too positive about the world".

I then decided to let it go and let her Labrador like view on the world be left alone.

Not sure where I'm going with this but damn this is good news.

They cost more up front between the batteries and the charger. Ya you save money in the long run but a 50 pack of Costco batteries lasts long enough until a few more paychecks down the line.

Why richer people dont get them, I couldn't tell you. There are still AOL subscribers in the world and people are still willing to pay for cable - not just for sports either. I think some people have just literally never thought of it.

The same reason that even wealthier people just buy nicer tissue paper instead of blowing their noses into reusable handkerchiefs.

Society tells us that certain things are disposable and when we encounter a mild inconvenience (charging a rechargable battery or tossing a handkerchief into the washing machine) we fall into confirmation bias.

years and years of crappy rechargeable ones souring the idea, even if the newer ones are decent people aren't trusting of them

now that I think about it that was almost certainly intentional, knowing how big corps work and how there's just a few big battery corps

It was essentially a shop that sells winemom knickknacks, wrapping paper, and custom wedding invite stuff. It had a wall of various shaped and colored envelopes as well. I think most of the store is really for foot traffic and the primary business model is a wedding invite consultation/printing service.

It did have a whole shelf of RBG merch so take that as you will.

        https://www.amazon.com/Power-charger-single-disposable-Android/dp/B072K7YBY6

It was something like this. Reviews claim it had little lithium AAAs inside.

Edit: others have alkaline. So who knows what it had tbh.

Double Edit: I also assumed Lithium because disposable e-cigs also use small lithium packs. which is basically a disposable battery pack.
