Are there any online places that write about indie games?
I have been trying to find one but so far have not had much success. Mainly I want to try keep up with new releases and such.
Steam store page is incomprehensible. It perenially talks about some sale and the "new and trending" page does not give show me stuff I particularly like.
Opencritic often features indie games but I am trying to move away from "critic score" aggregation as a metric because it abstracts away subjective experiences. I have been obsessed with critic score numberwang for a long time and it has done me no good.
I also don't like most review websites. They just talk weird. I can't explain it.
Any websites that you would recommend? I know this field is ripe for youtube channel suggestions but I don't watch videos.
Alpha Beta Gamer is a website that showcases Demos, Alphas and releases of games. Most of them are indie games you would never hear about otherwise, there isnt a ratings they on their website they just post them in order. I've been using it for years to find interesting little games and demos.
Steam is where games go to die unless they have a marketing budget. you on Itch.io? get on Itch.io. get on the forums, check out game jams, follow devs you like.
Stephanie sterling has lots of reviews on indie releases https://www.thejimquisition.com/written-reviews my only other source for indie game discussion is youtube with iron pineapple for indie soulslikes, thorhighheels for random shit, grimbeard for indie horror, geekenders pod for also random shit
