I love buses
not as much as trains but like you say, nothing beats not having to drive in the snow and ice with the unhinged amerikkkan drivers

In theory, I can take public transit all the way to my local mountain to ski, but it requires 2 untimed transfers and so I wouldn't dare try it. The last leg is a bus that handles the snowy bits, though.
