So I am not the biggest fan of latching on to him as the hero of the assassination unless we definitely know it is him, which does not appear to be the case.

Catching a scapegoat would be the single most self-humiliating thing the police could do. First they let a member of the bourgeois get killed, and then all they can do is catch an innocent person? There is no way that wouldn’t blow up in the system’s face in utterly comical proportions.
