It's absolutely terrifying how normal conversion "therapy" still is in most countries. There's zero reliable evidence it works, there's ample evidence it's actively harmful, It's been suggested to me by a therapist even though it's illegal in my country - oh wait, it's only illegal for children and non-consenting adults, and nobody has ever been convicted for it because the law against it is full of loopholes. Note that according to another article i read about this case, the judges also had to go for a workaround and sentenced the clinic for "false advertising", as there is no explicit ban of conversion "therapy" in the PRC even though the diagnostic criteria to justify it have at least been removed.
