Man has been fishing for millennia without depleting the seas. It's the parasite of capital that impels them to empty the sea.
Maybe not depleting the sea, but human activities such as fishing have been causing local population depletion even before the development of capitalism or industrialisation.
Sure but it hasn't scaled linearly. With most of these environmental metrics half of all damage was done in the past fifty years another thirty in the previous hundred etc etc.
Lentils are a legume which mean that in addition to being nutritious. Delicious and filling they are also great for the soil. Meaning they are great for rehabilitating devastated soil.
"Lentils () - These lentils have a small, black seed size. Total plant growth and nitrogen fixation with lentils is often lower than other legumes but is still acceptable in dryland situations"
What's a good recipe for lentils? I've tried before but it ended up being mushy and not great.
depends on the type of lentil, but i've had luck with some types of lentils cooked on the "rice" setting in my pressure cooker - they come out tender but still have their shape, making them great for bean burgers or chilled with lime and fresh herbs for a lentil salad. if you're struggling with the cook times, you can cook them to death so they disintegrate and become a creamy soup (havent tried it yet, but I'm planning to make this lentil soup this weekend), and personally, i really like them stewed (overcooked) with lots of caramalized onions
This post ignores those that are forced to hunt due to material conditions, but I do agree with the concept. Legumes are delicious and low cost within the western world at least. Lentils are delicious
