    I've seen Chinese folks actually defend the depiction of women in the game in that they're portrayed as strong and with agency, but that that aspect was ignored by racist journalists

      I haven't played the game but I think that user was referring to the company itself, which has one or more employees saying inappropriate things about women.

        Iirc the dev uses some internet language which uses a word that is either regular vulgar or misogynist vulgar depending on context (closest parallel: the c-word in the USA vs Australia)

          Those were clear misogynist incel edgy “humor”. Maybe excusable if they’re edgy middle school kids, but these are grown up tech bros who have their brains rotted by g*mer culture, and clearly have let the internet praises over the past few years gotten to their heads.
