I keep my notifications blocked with a browser extension for mental health management reasons, but I unblocked it yesterday to check something and saw that I'd apparently been included in the password invite list. I am/was very flattered, but had already decided at the time that I was happy enough to just enjoy the collective efforts of the people already using the account and knew the magic would fade if I were to make myself a part of it.
All this is to say. Wasn't me.
I'll miss the bit, but I was pleasantly surprised every day that it stayed active. I only saw good to mid-at-worst posts from the account and think on balance the experiment was a success and positive time for the community. But it is right that it should end while it remained a net positive. It was probably inevitable that it would end up abused. It was pretty funny yesterday watching a 20+ user collective account keep one terminally online smuglord engaged in an 8+ hour argument. Like, that's almost a perfect note to end on.
Whoever was using it to report etc, that's spineless and selfish behavior and you should do some self crit. This is a microcosm example of the general rule that "we can't have nice things."
