I was on CTH but missed the discord (thank heavens, I hate trying to use that thing) but heard about chapo.chat elsewhere on Reddit. So I've been here since almost the beginning.
I like tabletop gaming, both rpg and board/card games. I'm in a DnD campaign now and playing a bard for the first time, which is fun. Some favorite board games are: King's Dilemma, Quacks of Quedlinburg, Clank, The Captain is Dead: Dangerous Planet, Furnace, Spyfall, Azul: Summer Pavillion, Eclipse, Dune: Imperium, and many more.
I like needlecrafts. Primarily I crochet and embroider. I learned how to knit, but I can never remember how to cast on or cast off and have to relearn it each time, and that got annoying. Also, crochet is more forgiving because you can't drop stitches and end up with a hole in your work. My project now is to finally get around to making a dice bag for my current DnD character.
I like music. I love to sing, but my voice pretty average--I'm in the "valued member of choir" range, not the soloist range. But I sing a lot for pleasure, while doing chores or driving, that kind of thing. My favorite music to sing around the house is folk music, since it still sounds like music unaccompanied and it's fun to sing. I also have a good memory for music--it's just about the only thing I can remember--so it's fun to sing a story in 20 verses. Jean Ritchie is my favorite folk singer.
I like it when you guys make me laugh, make me think, and help me blow off steam.
It makes me sad and angry every time I try to use it. My friends and I played games on Tabletop Simulator while talking on Discord when we were stuck at home during lockdown, and I never got comfortable with it. I swear it was created by people who actively hate the users.
Tillie is a super cute name. I haven't met anyone named Tillie.

I'm here, too. Im currently trying to lower my singing voice to a more natural octave. I think I've been singing an octave too high my whole life. But it's hard and I keep missing notes because I'm not used to it lol
Thanks! Tillie isn't my real name. I couldn't think of anything cool when I was picking a username, so I gave up and just used the first name of one dead relative and the last name of a different dead relative and called it a day. This is the same reason why I don't have an avatar; no idea what to pick. I didn't know any people named Tillie either, until recently. I've met a few children named Matilda, since old lady names are cool again.
If you're trying to find your vocal range, sometimes I check out Ramsey Voice Studio on YouTube. I think he's pretty good at explaining things and I keep thinking I should try following and practicing with his videos, since singing is something I enjoy and it would be enjoyable to get better at it, but so far I haven't made the time. I wish social singing was still a common cultural thing. Gathering around the piano to sing a few tunes in the evening sounds great to me!
ETA: I just realized I should use this opportunity to crowdsource an avatar image I can use, since I have no bright ideas. Hexbear users, what avatar should I start using?
ETA 2: I also realize that asking for suggestions opens me up to boaty mcboatface-tier suggestions, but I'll take the risk.
the standard advice for pfps is to find an image of your favourite ancient chinese bronze artefact & crop it to fit
Hm, I guess I'd better start looking at ancient chinese bronzes then.
Something you like. And/or a cute picture of a rodent.
I just use a selfie as my avatar, but you shouldn't do that for opsec reasons.
Hooray for Comrade Tillie
Tabletop sessions are fun, though as a forever GM I have not set up a session in a bit. Being able to combine two hobbies, needlework and tabletop, for your dice bag project sounds both engaging and rewarding, nice!
We love our GMs, don't we, folks? It's such a big job, I have no desire to ever give it a try! But I'm so glad there are people who take it on. I was dithering over different "looks" for a new dice bag, since I had it in mind that it would just be the one I use on all future campaigns until it wears out. I was having a hard time settling on something, since I wanted it to fit whatever character I'd be playing and I didn't want to order custom d20 printed fabric or something like that. Then a friend of mine suggested making one specially for my character, since a small drawstring bag isn't that hard to make and it's not like it's going to take an exorbitant amount of fabric or anything. That seemed like a really fun way to remember different characters, each with their distinctive bag. But then that opened up a whole new question of what kind of fabric would suit her best? It took some hunting, but I finally found something I liked. So now I just need to settle down and do it. A friend of mine has a bag with dimensions I like, I keep forgetting to ask her to send me the measurements.

Sounds wonderful, let us know how it's coming along in the future, we love our little handicrafts n' designs folks, many people are saying this!
I've never forgotten your wise comment about how to talk to kids about Santa Claus.
Hi there, fellow better-than-average-but-not-super-good singer! I play the ukulele and sing to myself when i need to take my mind off things, and now i'm trying to learn to play Studio Ghibli soundtrack songs on it.
