Seems kinda boring so far. I might try it again sometime with a controller, keyboard controls are super whack. I assumed it would be a turn based JRPG vibe.

Also it’s the remastered version or whatever and the drawn backgrounds look terrible with the sprites running around. It’s like playing rayman or one of those ugly 2D final fantasy mobile ports.

I looooove Legend of Mana! I love the sprites and pixel art in it. I do like how much of weird downer the story is, how cynical a lot of it is. And I like the completely nuts crafting system. I like hunting for eggs and sprites and all that~

I think a lot of it is I played it as a kid so I have a lot of nostalgia and can look past it's weak points. I can see why you might think it's boring, it can be quite slow and grindy. And it's probably part of why I like the art style even if you think it clashes (I can see what you mean for sure) but I like a lot of "bad" graphics - like the earlier Xbox era has a nice appeal to me, morrowind etc. Even though, objectively, they can be quite ugly.

I’d be totally fine if the graphics were all retro, but I think they’ve done some weird up scaling on the static backgrounds while leaving the sprites super 90s looking, which I find kind of distracting

I never cared for it, but I remember playing a bootleg fan translation of Seiken Densetsu 3 on my computer when I was like 16 and liking that much better.

Yeh looking it up Legends only got pretty mid review scores back in the day. Trials remaster is also on game pass, I’ll have to give it a go
