Was listening to the news talk about this fire last night and they mentioned several times that these weren't just any homes, they were million dollar homes in a very well to do area.
Idk about the periphery but a large part of the area burning is in Malibu where the homes are 7m and up. I used to work out that way sometimes. There was another big fire a few years back around when I was going out there and the local hotels put the rich bastards up free of charge, Gucci and all these designer brands sent them care packages and shit like… they’re fine lol. I feel bad for any apartments on the edges that catch it bc they won’t get any rich important people subsidies
At least there's some schadenfreude to take the edge off
My aunt lives in the Palisades. I get it. She's a boomer who got a condo in 1980 for a few hundred grand and has lived there basically her whole adult life.
She's a shitlib but a well meaning one and my cousin is rad.
I know it's fun to make some jokes but this one is a little close to home for me.
She's probably going to lose her home. There's only like three roads into the Palisades and she just had foot surgery, had to get help from neighbors.
Sorry for the downer but I'm worried.
Apologies.
Many of the jokes we make are in poor taste and sometimes we catch a comrade by mistake. I assure you nobody had folks like your aunt and cousin in mind when thinking, "well at least those fuckers deserve it"
I know. I'm usually black pilled about climate change. So I understand but yeah it's close family this time. A little reflection on my part that there are human costs to this shit
this one's hitting pretty close for me too comrade i sincerely hope your people are safe and nothing bad happens to you and yours
They're all safe. Friends also had to evacuate Pasadena. Seems like everyone is alive. Based on that reddit post about downtown Palisades, I have to assume my aunt's place is gone. That was only a few blocks from her.
I've known multiple people in I guess the past decade come very close to having their homes burn down and it's generally pretty gut wrenching checking the fire map to see where the edge is at in the mornings.
Yeah my uncle lives in Santa Monica
But he’s a negligent and manipulative narcissist that has pushed all of his immediate family away sooo
I kept wondering aloud what the property value had to do with a story about the area burning to the ground but then remembered I live in Hellworld.
let them eat almonds
It always makes me chuckle when carnists cry about almonds.

Critical support for comrade wildfire…?
