I disagree with the instance policy of banning carnists.
I think they should be spit on, then insulted, then banned.

Had to stop reading before by eyes rolled out of my head.
The funniest thing in the world to me is when a LW user writes some useless shitty comment that I will never receive and goes directly into a black hole because they're instance blocked lol. Same with all the downvotes. I literally don't care if someone downvotes me and downvoting me doesn't make them right about being wrong like in the case of the fucking definition of boycott lol.
Also, when one of them tries to visit one of the communities they invariably claim that they have been personally banned by you. It actual fact, it's nothing personal, they're just on a trash instance that's been defederated.
When they weren't blocked every post was mass downvoted by LW accounts. Once I removed LW and Lemmy.Ca that stopped. I eventually turned off downvotes entirely but those two instances are poorly gate kept. If I wanted to be on reddit I'd just sign in.
If I wanted to be on reddit I’d just sign in.
I think a reason that it's that bad is that quite a few of them are somehow perma-banned from reddit, but are hell bent on making a place exactly like it if not worse on the fediverse. So instead of signing in to reddit, they go onto lemmy world instead and change nothing about their behavior. Surprisingly, lemmy world seems to dish out bans less harshly than reddit and that's really saying something.
Do you see the comments in that post? It seems like they're being removed automatically, so only the admins get to see it, perhaps.I wrote an entire god damned essay and it doesn't even show up on my profile.
edit: just realized that I had blocked the community and, apparently, there was no obvious notice for that anywhere aside from the "UNBLOCK" button. So if it's blocked, you don't see the comments... :D
I propose a suite of radical changes. In order to maintain ideological focus and purity each user shall begin each comment with:
I <full legal name> reaffirm my commitment to big broccoli and oppressing the carnist, may history forget them.
thoughts?
I <full legal name> reaffirm my commitment to big broccoli and oppressing the carnist, may history forget them.
I propose that this be added as a site tagline.
There is no way their policy is enforceable without the .world mods being the ultimate deciders over what is fact, fiction, and acceptably dubious. Considering how that situation looks today I only expect it to get worse.
They are effectively removing moderators from their own community by overriding their decisions about what communities can and should be about and what is acceptable within those limits. Are the world mods capable of policing every community to make this new policy work? They seem to think so. Are these people who should be trusted to make those decisions? I don't believe so.
As the largest instance they are throwing their weight around to try and define what Lemmy is, not supporting the users that are actually here making it what it is today. Instead of dealing with their own shitty users and behaviors, they've told us all we must learn to accept them because the truth isn't real and we should all just accept it.
Fuck directly off with that.
