Under no pretext should claws be removed or trimmed; any attempt to disarm the chonky cat must be frustrated, by force if necessary :knifecat:

This one scratches toys and posts and hes chill never had to trim them, he keeps them comfy for himself (literally only scratched us twice in 4 years and that was during a bath). The other cat is just needles and knives no matter what; trim, file, toys, posts, stabbing the shit out of my chair or leg, a god damn dremel for cat nails, doesn't matter she's instantly :knifecat: again. But she's usually fine with them getting trimmed, she's squirmy but doesn't get mad about it: I think she knows she will be sharp again in minutes.

My parent's cat hates getting her nails trimmed and will try to make you bleed if you do it, and will hate any collaborators for at least 24 hours. But since she's a dumbass and gets stuck on the carpet if they aren't done (which means the dog can get in her face which she hates but she can't make the correlation) it has to be done for her. They just can't be trimmed very much or very often because if she doesn't feel sharp enough to fight the dog (this has never happened, they're both cowards) she will just hide for a week and only emerge when she knows the dog is asleep. Shes a prissy bitch is what I'm getting at.

It's different from cat to cat I think, and its whatever they're comfiest with and whatever keeps them safe and healthy. Anything but declawing which is just fucked.
