billy the bat is real good i remember starting to read it because i had just finished pluto and then being blown away that it was even better than pluto and also, like, i still can take some shonen like one piece and it is because it is weird like it doesn't do the shonen thing in the way you expect like for example there is an tournament arc but it is done like 600 chapters in and there is a plot reason for luffy, he has a reason to be in that tournment like reward is something he cares about in personal way and the rest of the crew does not so they are doing other things and this creates a situation where the crew if they have to fight are like separate and can't rely on luffy because he is busy and that makes things more unpredictable (also i have been reading for years so oda has already gotten me on his terrible trap)
