Okay so, with the iraq war timeline, this seems to be getting closer to the point where liberals begin to gaslight us and say they never supported the war.
I think this one will play out slightly differently because it was started under a Dem, has the cover of being started by another country (Americans know jack shit about geopolitics), and they've been whipped into a Russophobic frenzy for years to the point that they're now celebrating snuff videos of random Russian civilians.
I think the liberal rationalization in a few years will be the "noble lost cause". And there will be no normalization of Russia under Dems, so I'd expect there to still be a need to justify sanctions targeting every Russian on the planet and further escalations. More arms to what remains of Ukraine. More troops in the new NATO countries. Poking Russia in other spaces (maybe Georgia again). And all of this requires the appearance, maybe even actual, public consent.
We will also probably see all new levels of recession soon. It's possible, maybe even likely, that the cause of this will be placed on Russia and China so as to provide a convenient scapegoat for domestic capitalism.
I think they'll say "oops" in like 10 years, maybe, after the media decides to do a "reteospective" on why we "failed".
