On the one hand, I love how desperate these are. On the other, I am sad that these must work to some degree
yeah these are 100% to ask for money, not to solicit direct action or anything
:xi-clap: fire :xi-clap: every :xi-clap: last :xi-clap: one :xi-clap: of :xi-clap: these :xi-clap: shitty :xi-clap: consultants!
They literally defend these by saying they trigger a lot of donations compared to normal emails
But uhhh they didn't seem to think of oh, maybe saying in the subject line that their candidate already lost will also hurt some fucking uhhh
Uhhh VOTES?
idk how my phone number got exposed, but somehow my email is unscathed. I get at least one :vote: text a day from the dems, my union, or some other "progressive" organization, but no emails.
Briefly changing my registration from independent to dem just to vote for bernie in the primary was the biggest mistake of the year for me
That makes sense. They must have just stepped up the texting game from last cycle. I always got flyers in the mail, but haven't gotten this many texts before.
Texting is a something all campaigns are doing now, so prepare to get way more every election. People just don't answer calls/listen to voicemails from numbers they don't know anymore. I don't. I still have some friends in the local Dem party and they said the response rates are way higher with texts.
The Dem's voter database also buys phone numbers from data vendors. Might be how they got you.
my number got linked to the North Carolina Dems (where I've never lived) and they think I am called Marissa (I'm not, nor do I really know anyone by that name). I get texts/calls from them daily, despite efforts to get off it. I haven't tried to unsubscribe from the emails though, kind of enjoy watching the narratives.
I believe that particular style is due to one particular house called Mothership Strategies. Ex-Googlers or Schmidt's personal project, I forget which, but every bit as "connected" as that outfit who ran the fake Iowa caucus app
I mean these were all going to be red States anyway, regardless of how good a campaign the Dems ran. This is just a literal scam
