I don't remember it being great, but it was as a tourist and 2 decades ago. OK, five cities, the US has 5 cities that don't require a car to get around.
Boston is pretty good mate. You could get to almost any part of the city via the T and there is also the possibility of using the busses which are both pretty affordable. Also, the T is expanding to cover more of the suburbs around boston making getting into the city nice and easy. It's telling that NYC, Boston and DC are linked by the only semi decent commuter rail line in the country.
Also also, the T has public boats that go places. No one else does.
Oh that's cool. We actually were in car hell for so long. We used to have horrible overpasses like LA but we buried them and made tunnels. Boston, being one of our oldest cities has cobblestones under most of the pavement. In some parts of Cambridge, we have roads where cars have to go 10mph lol.

I can find at least one public/city operated ferry in NYC, but the rest is cool to hear. Glad some US cities escaped being car hell.
