Gojira 1954: The atomic bombings of Japan were horrible atrocities so we personalized them into a giant monster that attacks humanity.

No, see, if I, with my very big brain, don't immediately notice the themes of the film, they're subtle undertones. What's media literacy, some kind of communist plot?

Shin Godzilla was all about the governments slow reaction to Fukushima and it was awesome for it.

The Godzilla reboot in 2014 sucked ass and was just a giant commercial for the USA military, much like the war of the worlds reboot with Tom Cruise.

2 hours of upset white people pointing at devastation and then five minutes of Godzilla fighting some giant bugs, but the white people solving the real problem anyway

      I hated it.

The ultimate middle finger it threw at the audience that many seemed to miss was when the first big kaiju fight was about to break out after two long tedious "father figure has manpain" segments and then the camera jumps away from that so we can check up on the latest "father figure that has manpain" segment. debord-tired

Never heard this take and haven't seen the movie in many years, can you elaborate?

For me, it was Tom Cruse walking over over dying people trying to escape alien attack, screaming "SEAAAAAAAAAAN?!" over and over again for most of the run time.
