Traditionally I have gotten a lot of books and audiobooks from the pirate Bay, but in recent years that website has gotten really frustrating to use. Does anyone know of other good sources for books?
upvote for libgen, that site fucking rocks
also, there are guides on reddit for downloading ebooks though irc, which is another decent way of finding them
a lot of leftist ebooks (new and old) can be found on soulseek as well (along with troves of high quality music, new and old)
Additionally, pretty much any ebook can functionally become an audiobook if you have an ereader with a text-to-speech function. The voice will be robotic sounding, but I find that reading and listening simultaneously can help me read books quite quickly by continually moving my eyes forward. If I ever want to highlight anything, I just pause, highlight, then continue onwards. Honestly prefer this to actual audiobooks
That's a cool idea. I need ebooks because I have a 2 year old and no child care, so my wife and I work opposite shifts and the only time i get really for books is to listen while I watch him play outside.
Best thing to do would be to get some semi-open or openback headphones (eg porta pros) so you can hear things around you while listening to the book (instead of say IEMs/earbuds)
Get a library card. Download the overdrive app for computer. Loan the book and then download the mp3 file. Just makes sure you delete the file when it’s due or don’t I don’t really care.
If ya don’t wanna go through all that use the Libby app.
Honestly googling a book and then pdf works quite a bit I set up a little archive for the community, plz upvote I need like some karma. https://mega.nz/folder/3GBC1SIZ#zyFsn3bRGxOG1sy-2dOfVA
Libgen if you don't want to pay. However, radical publishers like verso offer subscriptions that give you every ebook published as new books come out and it's pretty cheap. Another level up and you also usually get one actual book a month. I sub to the verso bookclub.
MAM is one of the easiest private trackers to get into. Go to their Invite tab for more details. They have detailed rules once you’re inside though. They have sooo many audiobooks. For a public audiobook tracker, try audiobookbay
I checked it out. It seems it's closed for now. I guess I'll check tomorrow.
"At this time, Invites on irc are only available in two 25 hour long time slots: Saturday 0800 GMT to Sunday 0900 GMT Wednesday 0800 GMT to Thursday 0900 GMT"
I'll be honest. I don't know what irc is. I was just gonna go check the site tomorrow to see if there was an update there.
Best way for ebooks is IRC in my opinion, very quick and easy: https://www.reddit.com/r/Piracy/comments/2oftbu/guide_the_idiot_proof_guide_to_downloading_ebooks/
Have you tried the library? Most of the books I read I get through Overdrive, which lets you access your library's collection of ebooks.
