If so, was it polled somewhere?

Don't you dare mix up socialism and whatever hexbear is. Socialism =/= genocide denialism or authoritarianism.

They don't mention the Holocaust or Armenian genocide or the genocide of the indigenous people of the Americas. They’re just talking about China

So they're just denying the Uyghur genocide because it would make a "communist" country look bad but they don't deny the genocides by capitalist countries, so they're ok 👍

A genocide is a genocide is a genocide.

Talking about that, I wonder what's their stance on Tibet, we don't hear about that genocide very often anymore...

Is the US Holocaust Memorial Museum a good source? https://www.ushmm.org/genocide-prevention/countries/china/case-study/current-risks/chinese-persecution-of-the-uyghurs

                Or the UN? https://www.ohchr.org/sites/default/files/documents/countries/2022-08-31/22-08-31-final-assesment.pdf

My guy read your own fucking source. Your UN paper doesn't even conclude that China is engaging in Genocide.

I'll add to this - the Holocaust museum features prominently the testimony and picture of Rushan Abbas. She has a long history of activism in China (the details of which are important but we have more immediate concerns), and that lead to a career with... Radio Free Asia... Oh look, there we have another CIA/State Department mouthpiece.

I will further critique the source and echo another commenter saying that they don't have a single link. That page tells a story, but it does not provide any direct sources other than testimony from activists with demonstrable links to RFA.

Is the US Holocaust Memorial Museum a good source?

Seeing as they don’t have a single citation in that entire page, no, it’s not a good source

And this UN article mentions human rights violations, which, fine, nobody is arguing that there aren’t human rights violations in Xinjiang detention centers. But compared to US prisons, these conditions are pleasant. NOTHING in that article is even hinting at genocide. And comparing prison time for 2-18 months to genocide is deeply offensive to peoples who have actually suffered genocide. You sound like a typical white westerner who is trying to whitewash the crimes of your country by projecting them onto other countries

Did you even read the table of contents? Did you read the part about the unnatural birth rates? Did you read about the complete lack of consistency that "Terrorism" and Extremism" laws have? Did you read about the surveillance state that exists there? The suppression of Uighur culture? The forced disappearances? You're comparing two things with a magnitude of difference. I can talk about American issues of systemic racism all day, but calling the two equal is exactly as you put it whitewashing the crimes of China by projecting them on to America. The destruction of the American Indian lands happened in the past, but the destruction of Xinjiang and Tibet is happening today. We can do something about it

American crimes against humanity are far worse, and they are ongoing. America has more people locked up than any other country in the world (including China which has quadruple the population) and they’re overwhelmingly disproportionately black and indigenous.

Also why are you putting terrorism and extremism in quotes, are you unaware of the terrorism campaigns carried out by ETIM and how the deradicalization program actually worked to end it? America is just malding because China figured out a relatively peaceful way (much moreso at least than America’s own approach of killing a million people across the entire Middle East after one terrorist attack) to neutralize imported Wahhabist terrorism. The CIA plan to destabilize China got foiled so now you’re crying genocide instead, but it’s so transparent that every single Muslim country in the world has sided with China on the issue.

What the fuck is “Tibet is happening today” even supposed to mean? Tibet is a place and it’s a way better place to live now than it was in 1950, when it was ruled by a slave driving religious monarchy. Tibetan Buddhists are moving to live in Chinese Tibet because it’s a much better place to live than India.

we can do something about it

Like what? Repeat nonsensical atrocity propaganda from the state department and get psyched up for a war against China? Like you did for Iraq? Gross

That first bit you mention is probably just you misreading because this thread is interminable

the destruction of Xinjiang and Tibet is happening today

                        i.e.

the destruction of . . . Tibet is happening today

obviously false, but that's what they said

Yep, there it is. An article by a modern socialist writer. You can actually read some theory, or you can keep chugging American state department propaganda. Capitalism or socialism? It’s time to decide, America is collapsing and they will engage in a last ditch effort war on China in a feeble attempt to maintain their empire. You can either side with America, repeating western propaganda you see on the “news” and reddit; or you can stand with the workers of the world— the colonized nations and the socialist states that stand up for them. Imperial core and international capital or the periphery and the international proletariat?
