A Muslim prayer time app with 100 million users is just one of the apps that had location data sold to the US military for reasons unknown, a VICE report says. Those following storms or posting on Craigslist are in the same boat.

    Would be interesting to see the media reaction if China or Russia did this.

    It's insane how much data there is out there nowadays, how easily accessible it can be, and how little people seem to care. A few years ago, some journalists in Sweden managed to get the location data of a member of parliament by buying "anonymized" data in bulk and then identifying people by looking at where they lived and where they went to work.

    Now imagine what any random intelligence agency, organized crime or even nazis or whatever can do with this.
