Today I finished reading A Century of Revolution, which a collection of heavily Marxist-influenced essays on the history of revolutionary and counter-revolutionary violence in Latin America over the course of the 20th century.

The one on Medellin as a capitalist paradise in different ways both before and after the rise of neoliberal hegemony, and how the narcocapitalist cartels and their paramilitary death squads ultimately co-opted the entire state apparatus, was some really dark shit.
