It's VERY different from DnD/D20. The "Friday Night Firefight" for instance is a little more brutal/closer to killing you than D20/DnD.
Well, Pondsmith supposedly rebalanced it in RED, but I can't 100% tell you since the only RED/4E in there is the demo/Jumpstart kit which is in the same tier as the 2020/2E.
It's worth it for the Lore books alone. Pondsmith put a lot of work into Night City and how America came to be, even if a lot of 2020 is outdated now a days in terms of technology level (Fax machines being the major news source/news printer, for instance)
