it really legitimately irks me how the historiography from stenographers of the ruling class pretend like there was this discrete event and movement and it happened and its over. they lump together this collection of cumulative concessions pried away from the ruling class & capitalist reforms---events instigated from completely opposite political views, in the same "historical event".
Counterpoint, there was a specific event of a global cultural revolution in the late 60s mostly driven by students and one cool dude and changes in sexual social mores were part of it. The ability of capitalism to superficially absorb and integrate the cultural aspects of this revolution while the communist nations were forced to clamp down in it due to party disunity definitely contributed to the rise of neoliberalism and the fall of the USSR. Just look at how youth culture played a role in that mess
