I think Virgil and Bri make a good team. They interviewed Andrew Yang and Yang once again dodged Virgil’s direct questions because his UBI plan is terrible and he doesn’t really have an answer to unregulated capital.

Side note: A recent cold open was about whether Virgil is the “upside down” Nathan J Robinson and it was eye opening. I’m now a VirNat truther.

Haven't heard that episode. I guess I can understand interviewing Yang because he did have a following but UBI without rent control etc is just kicking the ball down the road.

This is the second time Virgil interviewed Yang. Both times he pushes Yang on the weaknesses of UBI but Yang dodges. I kinda thank Yang and is trying to elevate his brand to get a job in the administration in order to sell out to consulting firms after. Like so many who have gone before...

They spent a lot of time talking about Julian Assange. Nobody else in liberal media will touch that topic cause Hillarys emails, so..

yeah liberal media is just a very low bar to get over, the lefty media i usually consume is already there on assange and have been for a while now. So not for me.

Nice to hear though, we need more people talking about Assange, especially in lib adjacent media, since lefties and libs even on this forum have a dismissive attitude about whats being done to him.

That was their goal I think - talk to the people who are not terminally online, not the inside baseball politics maniacs like us, give the libs a chance to hear outsider politics. Plus Virgil is probably the sexiest chapo so theres that (OK its Matt but)

Personally, I can't stand it. BJG is like sandpaper to my ears. She's always stuck on how to better speak to liberals, or how to speak to the media, how to phrase ideas to the media, etc. etc. all liberal optics posturing. She doesn't at all seem to me to be a socialist in the least, and she's holding back any meaningful conversation to be had about politics. She wouldn't even allow herself to refer to Joe Biden as an enemy in the most recent episode of Citations Needed as their guest.

They've had some missteps for sure, but this was a better episode. I hope they keep it up.
