    The timing isn't that exact, the NDAA passed on December 11. 2019, and while Pelosi didn't vote on it herself, with her position and house majority leader, no bill makes it to the floor of the house without her approval. Pelosi's power also comes from the money she distributes to democratic house members, giving her control over their vote, it would be fair to say that Pelosi "allowed the bill to pass".

    What she did do that day was stand and applaud when Trump talked about Juan Guaido, showing her commitment to the US's imperialist foreign policy.

    Slightly off topic but it's been discussed before on ahem other sites but the prevent cancer foundation leaves a bad taste in my mouth. High executive salaries (ceo earning $300k a year at a non profit, lol ok), only 74% of donations given going to "programs" (placing them in the bottom 30% of charities), and no talk about what those programs are.

    Most donations talk about "kicking cancers ass", "funding research" or "making sure no one else has to go thought what my <relative> went through", but most of the prevent cancer foundations money goes towards "raising awareness", ie ads, informational briefs etc, etc.

    Sending money to a "charity" so that it can print the informational material, to give to uninsured poor people isn't helping anyone or solving anything. This is one of the charities I would place firmly under the category of "Neoliberal grift", it serves the ego's and wallets of the executive members but little else. As a bonus try looking up the prevent cancer foundation on Glassdoor to read some of the horror stories.

    CEO now makes $350k a year lol, charity watch lists them as only spending 73% on "programs", and from their $6.5 million dollar budget they only spent 1.6 million on grants, while spending $1 million on executive salaries, part of their combined $2.5 million on salaries, compensation and other benefits. Finally they also spend a giant blob of money, $2.4 million on "other expenses" but who knows what that entails.

    But hey at least we got the Prevent Cancer super colon, (see page 24) to educate kids about colon cancer. Also theres something of a mismatch between what their annual report says they spend money on and what the IRS 990 form says. My guess is its because the latter is legally liable.

    After 2016 they censored alex jones to test the waters for deplatforming, this was followed by a purge of over 800+ leftwing newssites, forums and community groups. This time the corporate oligarchs and their puppets in the democratic party censored the president to test out liberals willingness to go along with blatant public censorship.

    Amazingly enough they claim he was encouraging "violence" by calling his supporters "patriots". The CHT subreddit was also censored by claiming that it was encouraging violence since they wanted to execute slave owners. We've seen this before, the neoliberal center can only hold on to power by silencing dissenting voices. They always use a right winger to make it acceptable, and then its heavily applied to the left.

    Normally I don't trust outlets, since they're all owned by billionaires, but since my usual recommendation of following independent journalist on twitter is not an easy task to setup for most people, i will list the few outlets i keep coming back to.

    • The GreyZone (anti imperialist outlet focused on countering "the big lie of the day")
    • BlackAgendaReport (black socialist outlet)
    • DeclassifiedUK (investigative journalist with a focus on the UK imperialism)
    • MoonOfAlabama (political commentary focusing on geopolitics)
    • MintPressNews (indie news outlet, not afraid to touch subjects that will usually get you smeared as conspiracy theorist)
    • The Alectronic Entifada (focus on israel and its influence in western politics)
    • RT UK & RT America (yes russian states sponsored media, but they're system critics of western capital and employ alot of lefty journalists that can no longer get work in the imperial core)
    • Qiao Collective (debunking the western imperialist lies about china)
    • Empire Files (on youtube)
    • Shadow Proof (only US outlet that reports on Assanges show trail)
    • Telesur English (on youtube, invaluable to get a sense of whats going on in the south)
    • CGTN (china states sponsored media, but they debunk alot of western imperial bs, also trains)
    • TheCanary (uk outlet created as an alternative to the guardians fake left neoliberal bs)
    • MediaLens (media watchdog)
    • FairMediaWatch (another media watchdog)
    • AntiWar (anti imperialist, anti war new)
    • SouthFront (independent political and military analysis, since most other news outlets have stopped reporting on the wars)
    • GlennGreenwald (substack)
    • MattTaibi (substack)
