The timing isn't that exact, the NDAA passed on December 11. 2019, and while Pelosi didn't vote on it herself, with her position and house majority leader, no bill makes it to the floor of the house without her approval. Pelosi's power also comes from the money she distributes to democratic house members, giving her control over their vote, it would be fair to say that Pelosi "allowed the bill to pass".

Slightly off topic but it's been discussed before on ahem other sites but the prevent cancer foundation leaves a bad taste in my mouth. High executive salaries (ceo earning $300k a year at a non profit, lol ok), only 74% of donations given going to "programs" (placing them in the bottom 30% of charities), and no talk about what those programs are.

Most donations talk about "kicking cancers ass", "funding research" or "making sure no one else has to go thought what my <relative> went through", but most of the prevent cancer foundations money goes towards "raising awareness", ie ads, informational briefs etc, etc.

Sending money to a "charity" so that it can print the informational material, to give to uninsured poor people isn't helping anyone or solving anything. This is one of the charities I would place firmly under the category of "Neoliberal grift", it serves the ego's and wallets of the executive members but little else. As a bonus try looking up the prevent cancer foundation on Glassdoor to read some of the horror stories.

CEO now makes $350k a year lol, charity watch lists them as only spending 73% on "programs", and from their $6.5 million dollar budget they only spent 1.6 million on grants, while spending $1 million on executive salaries, part of their combined $2.5 million on salaries, compensation and other benefits. Finally they also spend a giant blob of money, $2.4 million on "other expenses" but who knows what that entails.

But hey at least we got the Prevent Cancer super colon, (see page 24) to educate kids about colon cancer. Also theres something of a mismatch between what their annual report says they spend money on and what the IRS 990 form says. My guess is its because the latter is legally liable.
