Clinking glasses and chuckling softly about those unruly poors dying in the latest superstorm because they don't have bunkers with wine caves.

meanwhile all of the artists and creatives continue to justify this and other events that the rich have completely dominated their artistic safe space. lol

BUT THE SLOGAN IS ABOUT LEAVING NOTHING BEHIND so-true

Just as empty as the former "don't be evil" slogan at Google. Techbros live a lie.

Wasn't it a rule that you take everything you brought? I remember years ago folks saying that BM has gone corporate. Here's another example

No the org cleans up after burning man. They restore the playa back to normal. It's a big deal because if they didn't they would not be allowed that venue.

This happens every year at Burning Man. They have an entire utility incharge of cleanup and restoration of the playa. So really the hypocrisy is with the people who leave stuff. The org will in fact leave nothing. Fucking thousands of bikes.

Why even call them "techbros"? Are they in technology? R&D? Engineering? At least fuckin software development?

A lot of them work, manage, own stock in, or have other networking ties to tech companies. The majority of the ones with money and means, specifically.

"Techbro" as a term is less about the literal actual tech and more about the California Ideology that binds so many techbros together.

I meant it as a jab at the technocratic ideology, like self determination and "the grind" are their jam but also they need the Burning Man Project LLC to organize laborers for when things actually get rough. Which apparently wasn't enough for one dude but IDK they aren't saying how he died.

Is the "grind" and whatnot even "technocratic ideology"? USSR had "technocratic ideology", investing immensely in new technologies and in people to develop them. These bozos are the same shitty capitalism apologists

Technocratic ideology to me isn't just investing in technology, you're suggesting I'm that dumb? Holy shit. Technocratic ideology to me involves pushing forward with destructive technologies without considering future or present societal impacts. There was a time when the US highway system was considered "latest technology" and so the car's unquestioning adoption by the masses has led us to climate change today. Same with social media and bitcoin. Advances in technology are part of what has allowed Capitalism to persist well into the modern day, why you keep hearing from these same bozos about "innovation" on CNBC and whatnot. And they look for it in the dumbest places.
