I will daily trainpost here until we are given a separate community
This particular locomotive is a P36 class. They were designed in the early 50’s to haul large passenger trains. 251 were produced beige construction was halted, as the 20th Congress ordered modernization to Diesel and Electric. An impressive 26 have been preserved
What a tremendous piece of machinery. Were all steam locomotives powered by coal?
Initially, steam locomotives were powered by Wood. Coal was much more efficient, albeit much worse for the environment
And using wood rather than coal is what helped the Soviet Union win the Russian Civil War!
While I'd love a !trains comm, it would just mean less activity for both communities. !urbanism@hexbear.net is already not very active.
I love the green-black-red colour scheme. It works really well.
This class absolutely goes on my list of favourite Steam Trains, along with the A3 and A4
My first instinct would be to laugh at you for liking British trains but I happen to have a soft spot for Nigel Gresley

Please mods, do NOT give into this person's demands..
Bruuuhhhh, that train is smokin hot, goddamn, what a truly beautiful machine, I'm in awe right now
What's the deal with the shield on the side? Is there a functional purpose for it?
"1869 - 10420 - 1956 Last steam locomotive built by Kolomna Works" 1869 to 1956 were the start and end years of this major Russian locomotive works. 10420 was the serial number of this locomotive
I can't even imagine the magical school this train takes you to
