Fevers are actually pretty neat and frequently effective at reducing illness severity and length. To the point where medical advice is starting to dissuade the use of antipyretics where the fever isn't coma-inducingly high, because they lead to worse patient outcomes.

Fever dreams are quite whack though.

I mean, I'm not arguing fevers are fun. But if it weren't for the fever, it almost certainly would've been more than two weeks of even more painful covid (and presumably with a higher risk of long COVID).

Help, my body has this whole authoritarian government in it euphemistically called the "Autonomic Nervous System". And the worse part is that it thinks it knows better than me! It's telling me when to breathe and how hot or cold I should be. It's a totalitarian nightmare! It's threatening to kill me over some tiny infection too! Maybe I want to be infected! Did you think about that Tankie Nervous System? DID YOU?!?!

Autonomic nervous system is the deep state of your body. You think you elected a central nervous system representative to improve your body? Think twice.

'broke at the wheel' is a fascinatingly medieval idiom, is that something germans say regularly?

i'm sure i've never heard it, though it makes immediate sense
