Lmao that is fucking awesome. Jim might be one of the few exceptions for admittance to the gamer gulag. Idk his whole history but I've seen quite a few vids of this where he pushes back hard on the reactionary gamer drama shit. He is also highly critical of how companies treat their workers. No idea if he has come right out and say capitalism is bad but I feel like it's heavily implied

I watched Jim's show intermittently for a while now. From my perspective Jim's gotten much more explicitly critical of capitalism over time. So my answer would be yes, Jim's definitely saying capitalism bad, especially recently.

It progressed steadily from bashing video game industry bullshit (e.g., microtransactions, worker abuse) to frankly talking about how this bullshit happens in context and for a reason. If you're ever curious I'd recommend going through some of the videos from their Jimquisition playlist. The titles themselves are pretty telling.

Jim actually seems fairly important figure within gaming for those reasons. He is able to use topical subjects like EA bad or Crunch is whack and break them down lightly in positive way. So many gamers complain about DLC and microtransactions but they channel all that energy at specific game companies without ever being critical of the system that is essentially rewarding and causing this shit.

I mean, we know the game community is super broadly bad, and as far as I know, there aren't many content creators who focus on it in a way that isn't just gamer bro reactionary arguments. I won't say Jim is radicalizing people, but he has likely given viewers more to think about and process WHY it's actually bad. He has some good bits too, his production quality is solid

dunno if they've picked up a tendency, but Jim, Laura, and Conrad have said various versions of capitalism bad on the podquisition from time to time

I did a poo poo brain and realized I should've added right away that Jim recently came out as nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns. I'm pretty sure I can't ping all the responses as a whole and I wouldn't want to reply to everyone individually, so I'm writing this and also editing the post description. Hugs :cat-trans:

I think it's about the armored boar enemies from the Souls games, where their weak spot is getting stabbed in the dumper
