The gameplay of the first one wasn't terrible, and scratched the Ace Combat itch that I needed. That said, the story was so terrible I remember virtually nothing of it, and that definitely did not scratch the Ace Combat itch. Music was entirely forgettable too.
Agreed, I never picked up the sequel either because it was way too short. Looked pretty for sure. Honestly that whole time period feels like a fever dream, since HAWX is so forgettable.

Oh, fantastic. If we've got the anime-esque storyline and power fantasy characters who go like "wow you're so cool" then I'm all in.

Yeah they're even made in the same Unreal engine lol. It's still a really good job for such a tiny team, given the retail price.
