A critical lens isn't an "interesting way of discussing the ramifications of an idea" it's actually about arbitrarily taking that idea out of real world context. This is just liberal media criticism. The characters in a story aren't real and don't have a real profit motive because they're not real. The people who produce, distribute and advocate for that story are real and have a real profit motive and that profit motive is at odds with human rights.
