Couldn't have picked a better time to come up with an outrageously greedy change to an existing service huh

If it's not dead already I don't see how it ever dies.

It should have been a ghost town 2 weeks after musk took over but people are so addicted to it everybody keeps talking about how Twitter is done for on Twitter.

Not really sure why there's anybody left at the nazi bar other than nazis at this point.

I also never had an account but that's just a layman's outside perspective.

Elon taking over had a relatively small effect on the material conditions of the average user. Charging everybody to use twitter would be a huge change.

I would say opening the flood gates and letting all the banned fascists back in would be about where the "material conditions of the average user" would have changed enough for me to leave the nazi bar but again I've never had an account.

It actually had a lot of impact on the research community. Just the "minor" change earlier on to not let unlogged users see threads caused a lot of stress for people who depend on twitter for research news. The main issue is that those and the artists who make twitter worth using are very small fish compared to the main users (fascists, celebrities and porn).
