Personally I find watching shit on "official services" a lot more convenient. I dont like downloading shit to my computer, videos take up a lot of space. Pirated streaming services with movies and tv shows are cool, but this bill might kill them lol. And even then I just find using official services you pay for a lot more coinvent. Though yeah, agreed on things being taken down and moved to another service or just not being available to stream anymore. If there was a single streaming service that actually had nearly everything, I'd pay real money for that in a heartbeat. The streaming services all popping up to create their own little fiefdoms really kills the concept for me. I only have enough money to pay for one really. So that happening encourages piracy for me. I actually imagine thats the reason that the media companies are trying to clamp down on pirate streaming sites, because they know they are an alternative to paying for 10 different streaming services lol.
For music I use Google Music Youtube Music (an annoying transfer I had to make) rather than Spotify. My music tastes are pretty goddamn mainstream, so basically everything I want is on there. Occasionally I'll have to hunt something down and upload it, but that's not a huge deal. But yeah, I don't use MP3 players and dont even listen to music often enough to really bother with with downloading a vast library of tunes. Once again, the legal streaming services you have to pay for are just more convenient for me.
Another thing I use heavily because I just find it more convenient is Steam, even though I know piracy is available to me. But that shit is an money sink for me. I own over 1,400 games and I've played 25 of them. Quiet a few I got free on humble bundle, and I've almost never payed full price, but I've still spent way too much on games I don't play, just to "have" them even though they're just digital and thus I don't really own it.
