        Generally when people say they want to blow up a pipeline, they don't intend to spill oil. For example, in the film "How To Blow Up A Pipeline" they disable the pipeline before it blows. The point of the explosion generally isn't to be thing disrupting the flow, but to make restoring oil flow harder and more expensive.
