Missing persons and murder cases involving the poor and vulnerable often go unnoticed by mainstream media, while we will get anniversary editions of cases like JonBenet and Maura Murray. The Asha Degree case is a great example of how this works. It has a following online but most people outside that area of Ohio had never heard of it cause the media rarely covered it.
