These actions signify a rising tension sparked by Canada's declaration of "actively pursuing credible allegations" connecting Indian government agents to the 18 June killing of a Sikh separatist leader in June. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government firmly denied any connections to the supposed murder. India’s spokesperson slams Canada’s interference in its internal affairs. But Mr Trudeau said on Thursday he was not looking to provoke India with the allegation. India's side asserts that Canada does not share information. Relations between the countries - key trade and security partners, and US allies - have been strained for months.
