I was browsing twitter because I was enjoying seeing various pro-PRC people and journalists whaling on the y*nks over this past day's events when I came across this story again with someone saying it was actually true and pointing out it was reported as such by a Chinese news site called 'guancha'—so I thought that, maybe, there was a sliver of truth to the whole thing that was just being maliciously misconducted like, say, the helmet having a built-in mechanism that would destroy its systems or something along such lines—but after looking it up the article mentioned nothing even remotely close to that, and certainly nothing about a 'kill switch'. I looked the story up in other sites, but it was just the same thing, again.
I also decided to take a look at the NDTV article, and not only do they not link to the original story at any point—instead just presenting a screenshot—but even when they mention the 'outraged' comments made by Chinese netizens over this matter, the links they provide for them direct you to... the same story on the NDTV site.
By the way, here is the official English publication.
