One time when hitching a ride to my 10 year high school reunion (which I recommend against going to btw) we were talking about countries we had visited/traveled to. I had mentioned that I had been to Cuba recently, so we got to discussing Cuba a bit. The Christian lib that was driving said something to the tune of "Cuba experienced a huge economic boom when the evil Soviet Union finally collapsed.".
It was so mind-numbingly historically illiterate I was gobsmacked. I didn't even know where to begin. Like they actually euphemistically call the 1990's the "special period" because of how absolutely devastating the collapse of the USSR was for them. I couldn't even begin to understand how he arrived at that conclusion.
