A photo-op to give his cultists ammo with which to 'debunk' the notion that his anti-labor track record regarding his most recent ratfucking is something to be taken into account. Nothing more. Just because he's 'better about it than Obama was' doesn't mean I believe it's suddenly heartfelt, or will applaud him for it.

I would not call anything Biden does “pro-labor”. I think there are instances where he positions himself expediently, if the political benefits outweigh the costs. But if you’re taking a calculation like that in approaching a labor issue, that’s inherently not pro-labor

standard blue team careerist opportunism, were the owners to be at risk of any significant loss he'd swiftly revert to what he has always been, a capitulationist.

he's full of shit still. some think tank will tell him "you can't be too pro labor, or we'll lose Republican votes"

Let's assume for a second that he's actually pro-labor, none of his neo-liberal ghouls would allow him to do anything that would actually stick. So while we occasionally hear of something that might sound good, I'm operating under the assumption that there's fine print or it's easily undone.

I think it's a political calculation in preparation for an election but it's still historically not what the Oval Office has done during active pickets from major unions, including his own, which does bode well for the striking workers and their chances of successful bargaining at the table.

Trying to shore up support in advance of the election. If he were truly pro-labor then he would reverse his opposition to Medicare for All, set a COVID policy that's not hostile to human life, and actually follow through with cancelling student debt. Also, there would be actual consequences for Amazon, Starbucks, the Big Three, and other corporations for their anti-labor doctrines and tactics. That's not all, but he could start there if he were pro-labor (nope).

There are union negotiations and labor struggles going on all across the country, like the California State University's staff and faculty, and academic student worker unions (the latter of which is actually part of the UAW). Haven't seen any meaningful support from Biden or the DNC for those negotiations.

Since labor issues are inherently systemic (marx ), he would also be addressing tuition hikes and homelessness if he were actually pro-labor. He only appears to give a shit about this one because it's so high profile and his poll numbers are looking grim.
