The world is pretty shit right now and it can be pretty tiring and heavy. So I've decied to make a daily post for us to share GOOD things that happened recently, whether that's a bigger picture good thing or a small, personal good thing.

Did you make strides in unionizing your work place recently?

Hear about a strike?

See a cool bug?

Help out a comrade?

If so, share it with us in the comments here! It doesn't matter big or small! This is a space to recharge and remind yourself what you're fighting for. Come and vibe!

In a few weeks, I'll be starting a new stage of my life in a very different place, hopefully for the better. Moving is never easy, and for all I know it will cut down on my posting here by a lot, but I look forward to it. I have had a lifetime's worth of California already. bloomer

Are you finally getting out of Silicon Valley? I get the feeling life is hell there for you.

Congrats, seriously. Having lived in the wretched heart of SF, I would not wish it on anyone. I'm also about to do a move, though much less drastic, just a change of apartments. I hope both our moves go well.

My degree is going well so far. I got a high distinction for a statistics GIS software thing.

Also this thing exists, that's pretty cool

Also I tried to post this thread in the Bloomer comm at first, but it didn't work. No biggy, it can live in this comm for now

Slugs are neat there are many active slugs in my area this time of year and they are cool to look at. I saw one carefully navigate its eye around a blade of grass the other day without touching it. Crazy sophisticated behavior for something that doesn't technically (Edit: according to some stuff I've read but see below) have a brain.

Edit: I went and did some googling and I'm seeing papers speaking of slugs' brains so I guess this definition has changed and improved.

Edit 2: It's possible the usage is inconsistent as there are (some) papers going back a long way describing the cerebral, pleural, and pedal ganglia of the slug as a brain.

GIS is very cool and sometimes helpful for getting job type things congrats!

I've been working with a therapist on making the life I want for myself. It's been really nice because now I have some goals I can work towards.

They were usually too big to process and work towards and now I have clear steps I can identify and keep in mind.

And one of those goals is just to spend two hours once a week doing nothing at all. Don't have to nap or answer texts, or do anything I can call productive.

So I've been returning to the habit of daydreaming and seeing where my mind takes me. Or napping if I feel tired. But just doing something for myself without a profit motive.

The movie Matilda was one of my favorite movies as a kid and I rewatched from start to finish without using my phone, playing a game, or doing chores. I just gave it all my attention and enjoyed the movie for me.

    I loved it!

A lot of therapists in the US wouldn't dare suggest that because the cultural goal for most therapy in the US is to make you as productive (for the sake of those profiting from your labor) as possible.

You got a great therapist. bloomer

I went to a judo school nearby my living space for the first time. I want to get a year of practice because I have this dream of studying at the Kodokan. They seemed very nice. They had all sorts of decorated walls and well loved mats. The people were nice to me. They recognized the fraternity they have with BJJ
