Hello everyone. I'm in a bad spot right now, and any help at all would be appreciated. Basically, I have until the 10th of October to come up with 1098 dollars for rent. The only source of income I have right now is grubhub, which I don't think is really going to get me there. If you'd like to help, I have cashapp ($BrandoAD) and paypal. I'll go into the full explanation below.
Since May I've been out of work and living off of my savings, which I thought would last me while I looked for work. I had a roommate at the time that I expected to help defray the costs, but that ended up not happening and the majority of the burden for rent, utilities, and food all fell onto me.
Before we'd moved in together, I'd known my roommate for several years and considered him a really good friend. He had a job at least, and since I'd helped him when he didn't and I did, I expected the same treatment in return. He'd just started working as a technician at a bowling alley with decent pay, but he never seemed able to pay me on time. There was always some excuse or reason, and I just took him at his word since at the time I could afford it and he promised to pay me back. It was a pain, but he was a friend.
My money ran out in August, so this September I had nothing for rent. Unsurprisingly, it turns out neither does my friend, but I don't really think about it at first because I assume that he's going to get paid, he should have something, if not now then soon, and I'm desperately trying to figure out where I'm going to get my share from. I was able to get my grubhub account restarted, and I immediately started driving. The money's not great, but it's still cash coming in. I managed to get my half of the rent together, luckily.
But my roommate still hasn't. Don't worry though, he tells me, he's going to get the money. Don't worry about it. He talked with his boss and his boss agreed to give him a loan. He'll have the money soon. Okay today he overslept, but tomorrow. It's a done deal, don't worry. Except it wasn't.
He promised to have the money on the 26th, and I saw him leave to go get it while I spent some time with a friend and then went to go do more deliveries. When I got home that night, hey, sorry man, I couldn't get the money. It wasn't a personal loan his boss agreed to. Instead his boss took him to his bank and tried to get him a professional loan, which of course was refused. He tells me I need to be ready to move out.
I told him that wasn't fucking acceptable, and he needed to get the fucking money. He asked me "what else he was supposed to do?" I told him he needs to take his fucking audio equipment out, all his vintage video game shit, whatever, he needed to go and fucking sell it, and he told me to go fuck myself. He tries to put all the blame on me since I haven't been working since May, even though I've been the one taking care of everything. I finally ask him why he doesn't have any money, and he tries to say that he doesn't get paid all that much, and I point out how it's mathematically impossible to work 30-40 hours a week, every week, at 11.50 an hour, and only make 200$ a week and never have any money, so he was either just lying to me about how much he was working, or he was blowing all his money on something else. If I had to guess, it's being spent on fucking kratom, to which I think he's heavily addicted.
The last I saw him was yesterday. He told me he was going to ask his sister if she'd give him the money he needs, but even if she could and would, I really don't have any faith in getting anything from him. I'd already told him that whatever happens, he needs to find a new fucking place to live.
I was just barely able to stave off eviction for this month thanks to a couple of last minute loans from some friends and family, but October's rent will be due in a few days, and after the 10th my landlord is going to start the eviction process against me again. I'm going to talk to someone about a job tomorrow, but even if I am hired on immediately I'm not going to have that money right away.
I know $1098 is a lot to ask and I'm really not expecting to get that much, but any and every little bit helps and I'll deeply appreciate it. Again, my cashapp is $BrandoAD and my paypal .
Thanks alot, even just for listening.
edit:
Thank you everyone that's donated! I'm out doing deliveries right now, but I've been given about $150 so far. Rent is going to be due tomorrow and I've still got a long way to go, but this has been a tremendous help in getting me there.
It's a little bit of work but look into this post. Apparently you can get up to $1000 from just Chime referrals if you want to try and play that game. Up to 2000 if the people you're referring are kind enough to give you their 100 bonus referral. https://hexbear.net/comment/4021632
Hope the little PayPal helps regardless
It's a tremendous help! Thank you ♥ I haven't heard about Chime before, but it's something I'll look into. I don't have $200 to DD though 😓
I don't think you have to do it, just the up to 10 people that you refer for the bonus to go through
I already use Chime otherwise I’d do it, I also have 10 referrals available in case anybody else wants to sign up.
I'm tapped until the end of the month, but I might be able to get you after the first
That's very kind of you. If you can, I really appreciate it.
For what it's worth y'all I know this person irl so plz help if you can
Bumping. I'll see what I can send tomorrow, but I honestly doubt I can give more than $20 at the moment.
I can paypal you some $ once my salary comes in in a few hours. Until then, bumping this up.
Just wanted to post an update.
Between what I've been able to earn by driving, a gift from my parents, and the generous contributions of the people here, I'm only 250 away from having rent. If I can get it all in by the 5th, I won't have to pay any late fees. So I'm going to be driving like hell to try and get the rest of it together before then, but I'd still be immensely grateful for any help at all. Every little bit is tremendously appreciated.
Thank you all ☭♥☭
New update!
Thank you to everyone that sent me money. Thanks to your help I was able to pay my rent! I'm not completely out of the woods yet, but tomorrow I'll start a new job and if all goes well with that I think I'll be alright.
I truly appreciate the kindness and solidarity you've shown me and I hope I can pay you all back soon.
