Sometimes it’s to get members on the record, so ppl can’t make excuses later.

Sometimes these votes create real political pressure that forces developments.

Sometimes we vote for the historical record - to let future generations know we did everything we could.

These WERE the primary arguments advanced by ForceTheVote advocates, anyone claiming otherwise is either a troll or never actually engaged with the ForceTheVote narrative outside of making snarky memes about it

Nobody expected the vote to pass just like AOC knows impeachment will fail in the Senate

The reason I think the impeachment sounds different is it's based on the events of last week, no one knows the opinion of each member yet.

Like the impeachment vote is guaranteed to get one side of people mad at you, if you vote yes or no. But I haven't seen why the vote on M4A would be more impactful than the cosponor list, we still don't know if people are sincerly voting for it or just avoiding a primary challenger and telling their donors they have different private positions. People like Kamala went from "supprting M4A" to not but the hypocrisy wasn't a roadblock. Being a cosponsor didn't prevent the donors from donating because they knew that was just for show.

the DSA put out a statement about M4A recently and if that was accurate then it has to finish going through 6 committees before a vote. So not voting for Pelosi but demanding that this actually gets finished might have been very good
