Any suggestions from the general to the specific are appreciated, and this is a good time to make suggestions regarding the rules as well!
Stuff like advice and strategies for coping with our unique challenges. Dunking on ableism. Providing a place for people to discuss and ask for advice and resources.
Basically, keep doing what you're doing. It's great. :heart-sickle:
weekly discussion posts about community suggested topics
e.g : who is the best smash bros character, favorite food, the autism puzzle piece symbol, etc
weekly threads around certain topics would make this community a lot more active and would be a good addition to make the sub more uplifting
I think doing "what is your favorite smash character" would set up a more lighthearted tone for the discussion posts. Suggestions should probably be weighed equally though because i think a lot of people might be eager to share thoughts on niche topics that people obsess over
I know "neurodiverse" is a huge blanket term and we all have different conditions that make us neurodiverse, but I'd like to see this be a place where we can make posts infodumping about various things we're passionate about, and discuss them with others who Understand™
Absolutely! I'm gonna add "Interest Policing will not be tolerated in any form" to the rules right now :D
instant downvotes for anyone who says their a US vet. I used to be able to just automatically downvote those (and pretty much exclusively used my downvotes for that) and am sad I can't anymore.
In addition to light-hearted and fun topics, I feel like this would be a good place to talk about the issues we have all faced as a result of the capitalistic system failing to appreciate neurodiverse people (and really anyone who can't perform at "peak productivity" for that matter). It is always good to remind ourselves that our "failure" to meet unreasonable expectations is not a personal failure, but rather a systemic one.
posts where people who at least somewhat have their shit together, talk about your experiences. Also like have a post where people can talk about things that are working/worked for them to help with any aspect of their lives and then just mark that comment like [ADHD] for example
