Their take is typically that any time hegemonic liberalism embraces fascism it's some kind of ruse to make them feel accepted and put them back to sleep. We say the same stuff about when the liberal establishment makes overtures to us in the form of social democracy (or, more commonly, mere lip service to social democracy), but the important difference is that we're correct when we say that concessions are merely meant to lull us back to sleep, while they are not, and are underestimating precisely how much the bourgeoisie supports them.

I think that's often the effect, but not often the intent. Probably the biggest gesture to social democracy in the last generation was Obamacare, and I can't imagine it was meant to lull the left back to sleep because what passed for the left in the U.S. circa 2008 wasn't worth considering.
I look at it as "to what degree does this gesture open the door for more of the same"?
Maybe they're slow or filter bubbled or.... don't want to alienate their audience. But still they are usually on contradictions even if it involves punching themselves in the face.
