Surely the Democratic party isn't still running the same play they did in 2016 and hoping to boost their numbers by pushing the Republicans further right. Obviously that was bad, so they would never do that again right

It is a pretty funny bit to plead for 'respectable' republicans and then help the right fringe of the republicans depose someone for compromising.
