Tea is considered to have originated in China. But it’s the delicate, fresh-tasting green tea that became popular in Eastern society and is still the base of tea culture there today.
As tea culture spread and tea was processed for export to trade beyond regions, neighboring countries and eventually across oceans, it was discovered that the more oxidized black tea would retain its freshness and flavor better over long journeys than its minimally oxidized green tea cousin.
In the earliest days of border trade between China, Tibet and other neighboring countries, tea was fermented, dried and pressed into bricks to be used as currency. To this day, most of the black tea produced in China is exported out of the country.

Slowly coming to the realization that while I am passionate about a lot of social justice issues, a lot of my "opinions" are things that I actually know nothing about and just picked up through hanging out in left spaces online (like this one). I think I need to learn a lot about the history of the 20th century before I ever open my mouth about a lot of topics again. I'm thinking of finding some good history podcasts in order to accommodate my tiny attention span. If anyone has any recommendations I'd love to hear them
Saying the left needs to concede their core beliefs in order to obtain more power is in contradiction with most communist ideologies and is a form of liberalism. People already have power, that's the point.
I know 2 people in their early 50s who died from covid in the last 24 hours. Fuck the politicians who care more about impeaching trump than doing anything that could make this stop.
